Dominican Family Day at Corpus Christi Monastery. Nairobi, April 1, 2024.

On April 1, 2024, the Corpus Christi Monastery hosted the highly anticipated Dominican Family Day, where the spirit of cooperation and unity was clearly felt. Members of the Dominican family, including friars, nuns, Dominican sisters of apostolic life, Dominican laity and Dominican youths, came together for this prestigious occasion. In his homily, the Socius to the Vicar, Fr. Leo Mwenda OP, emphasized the importance of solidarity in sharing the good news of the resurrection in all of their apostolates. “We come across the risen Christ in such apostolates,” said Fr. Leo.

Fr. Luke Bett OP, the Vicar Provincial of the Vicariate of Eastern Africa and the main celebrant of the Mass, stressed the need of unity in pursuing the vocation of the Order and underscored the importance of cooperation and like-mindedness in achieving their shared objective.

Amidst the tranquil surroundings of the monastery, members gathered to celebrate their common Dominican heritage and reaffirm their commitment to serving humanity. The event served as a testament to the enduring values of the Dominican Order, which have long been rooted in fostering community, preaching the Gospel, and promoting social justice.

Events such as these serve as rays of optimism in a world when separation and conflict are commonplace, reminding us of the transformative power of uniting behind a shared vision. The Dominican family marches forward, hands in hand and hearts together, passing on the flame of love and truth to future generations.
